Manufacturing & compliance errors — we reprint free

If the error is on our side — anything within our control during manufacturing, printing, or shipping — we cover it completely. You don't pay a cent for the reprint. You don't pay for reshipping. We make it right.

Errors we reprint and reship free

  • MICR encoding errors caused by our process — if we incorrectly encoded the transit, institution, or account number on the MICR line (and it didn't match what you approved on the proof)
  • CPA 2006 compliance issues — any cheque that fails to meet Payments Canada Standard 006 due to our manufacturing
  • Printing defects — smudged, misaligned, missing ink, ghost printing, or other quality issues on our side
  • Missing security features — if hologram foil, heat-sensitive ink, watermark, microprinting, or other ordered security features were not properly applied
  • Bank rejection due to our manufacturing error — if your bank returns cheques because of an issue traceable to our production
  • Shipping damage or errors — missing items in the shipment, wrong quantity delivered, or damage caused during transit

Customer-provided information errors

The free PDF proof exists specifically so you can catch and correct information errors before we print. If an error is in information you provided and approved on the proof, it's not covered under the free reprint policy — but we'll always help you fix it at a discounted reprint rate. Errors not covered under free reprints

  • Incorrect bank details you provided — transit number, institution number, or account number that you supplied and approved on the proof
  • Misspelled company or personal names — if the name was spelled incorrectly on the proof and approved
  • Wrong mailing address or phone number — if approved on the proof as shown
  • Logo errors — if the logo file you provided was low-resolution, incorrectly formatted, or had errors visible on the proof
  • Requested changes after approval — design changes or content updates requested after you approved the PDF proof and printing has begun
  • Changes to bank account — if your account number or institution changed after your cheques were printed

How to request a reprint

Whether it's our error or something we can help you fix, the process is the same: call or email, a real person answers, and we get you back up and running. No chat bots. No ticket queues.

  1. Call 1-866-760-2661 or email orders@printnow.ca. Have your original order number ready (found on your order confirmation email or invoice).
  2. Describe the issue. If cheques were rejected at your bank, tell us what the bank said. If there's a printing or MICR issue, describe what you're seeing. Photos help if you can send them.
  3. We investigate and confirm responsibility. If it's our error, we'll tell you on the spot — free reprint confirmed. If it's a customer-side error, we'll quote a discounted reprint rate before proceeding.
  4. We reprint and reship. Manufacturing errors reported before 2 PM EST typically reprint the same business day with next-business-day courier shipping. Customer-side corrections require a new free PDF proof and your approval before we reprint.

Examples: incorrect bank transit/institution/account numbers you provided, misspelled company names, wrong addresses, low-resolution logo files. Reprints are treated with priority. For manufacturing errors on our part, we typically reprint the same business day when reported before 2 PM EST Mon–Fri, with next-business-day courier shipping across Canada. For customer-side corrections, timing depends on the change and your approval of a new free PDF proof. Rush options are available — call and ask.

For larger disputes or cases involving bank rejection, we may ask for one sample cheque returned by mail for our quality records. We'll tell you if that's needed when you call.

Can I cancel an order after I've approved the proof?

Once you approve the free PDF proof, your order moves immediately to production — often within minutes for same-day orders. Cancellation after proof approval is not guaranteed. If you need to change or cancel, call 1-866-760-2661 immediately. If we haven't started printing, we can often stop it. If printing has begun, cancellation fees may apply because materials and machine time have already been committed.
